TASKS

In Learn English Through Stories, the tasks are designed to help Intermediate level ESL students improve both vocabulary and speaking skills through immersive activities. Each lesson contains a variety of exercises, including:

  1. Vocabulary Tasks: These tasks focus on helping students learn new words from the context of the story. For example, students translate or define key vocabulary, match words with definitions, fill in the blanks, and complete sentences using new expressions.

  2. Pre-discussion Questions: Before reading the story, students engage in pre-discussion questions that activate their prior knowledge and prepare them to understand the new vocabulary in context.

  3. Story Comprehension Questions: After reading each story, students answer detailed comprehension questions, helping them use the new vocabulary while reflecting on the story’s events.

  4. Speaking and Discussion Tasks: These include prompts for discussing key themes of the story, sharing personal experiences related to the story, and engaging in storytelling activities. Students are encouraged to use newly learned vocabulary and phrases during these discussions.

  5. Creative Storytelling Tasks: In these exercises, students create their own short stories using a set of vocabulary words from the lesson, promoting creativity and fluency.

These tasks make learning engaging by linking vocabulary to real-life contexts and improving students’ speaking confidence.
